Southern Indiana Karate-Do

About the School

Southern Indiana Karate-Do offers a unique approach to the study of martial arts. Along with the study of self-defense, there is emphasis on the growth of one's character.

Appropiate use of the art is one of the fundamental teachings. Special care is taken with our youngest students to ensure that they understand that what they are learning is very special and that it's use outside of the dojo is warranted only under extreme circumstances.

Physical conditioning is another benefit of studying karate. Strength, flexibility, and coordination are greatly improved.

Along with self-defense techniques, kata (martial arts forms), are taught. Students are also introduced to Kobujutsu, traditional weapons techniques. The proper use and handling of the Bo and the Sai are emphasized.

Our instructors hold a black belt in Shotokan Karate-Do, which is the style in which the students are graded. However, our instructors have training in a variety of martial arts, including various styles of Japanese, Okinawan, and Korean Karate.
